In 2018, RDF was honored with the prestigious Energy Globe Award, one of the world’s most recognized environmental accolades, celebrating outstanding projects focused on energy efficiency, renewable resources, and sustainability.
RDF received this international recognition for its pioneering work in environmental conservation and the promotion of fuel-efficient technologies in rural Sindh. The award recognized RDF’s successful introduction and scale-up of fuel-efficient stoves, which significantly reduced the consumption of firewood, lowered household emissions, and improved indoor air quality, particularly benefiting women and children in underserved communities.
Beyond the technical innovation, RDF’s initiative was lauded for its community-centered approach, engaging local women in the construction, maintenance, and promotion of the stoves, thereby creating awareness, building capacity, and supporting economic empowerment at the grassroots level.
